Going to the River!
Getting down Going Street to Swan Island by bike or on foot has
gotten a lot better! Extensive brush removal has restored the sidewalk
to its full 8’ width. New sidewalk and crossings have been built
at the Greeley ramps to Going, at Basin & Going, at Basin &
Wygant, and along Port Center Way.
These improvements funded by TriMet's Job Access grants and by the City of
Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services’ Westside CSO project.
With the completion of the BES CSO Swan Island pump station in
2011, a new trail will lead directly from Port Center Way to the
an extension of the existing N. Portland Willamette Greenway
Trail.
Today visitors may access the Willamette River and the Greenway
Trail via the Greenway access trail located between Freightliner
Trucks HQ, 4435 N. Channel Avenue and the Ports 'O' Call
building. |
